Signs You Need a Refrigerant Recharge
If you are not sure you need a refrigerant recharge, here are some warning signs that you may be low or completely out:
- Air is Heating Up – If you have noticed a gradual rise in the temperature of the air that is coming out of your vents, you may be running low on refrigerant. This will likely not happen overnight and the rise may be subtle but be sure to take note of the temperature of the air when your AC is on.
- Freezing – If you are seeing ice buildup on your central air unit then you have refrigerant but it is leaking which is not good. A leak will cause you to run out of refrigerant much sooner than you should and it should be addressed as soon as possible.
- Lapse in Maintenance – If you haven’t had your air conditioner serviced in a couple years or more and are noticing that it is not cooling as well as it should, the problem could be low refrigerant levels.
